America is taking bigger steps toward socialism every day, yet most do not know what it means. Socialism or communism is also known as Marxism after the originator of this concept philosophy Karl Marx. Socialism focuses on an economic theory that calls for the state or government to own and control all means of production.
Its intentions are to take control of a country or society in order to achieve equality for all citizens with the government making sure that all needs are met.
It opposes our way of life and economic system called capitalism.
It states that when we combine industrialization with capitalism, the wealth of the nation falls into the hands of a few. It then states that workers will be oppressed by the few, earning low wages, long hours, and poor working conditions.
Although it sounds good, the end is very dangerous. This will cause government regulations and intervention against business and over-taxation. This will lead to less energetic, ambitious, and creative people. Why? These businesses cannot profit. Instead, they leave that city or nation and go where they can thrive.
Business owners and workers cannot be rewarded for their hard work or innovative thinking. When government takes over production, quality decreases, and political corruption from the top increases.
Socialism promises a perfect utopian society where we will all live in an economically equal environment. However, history reveals that socialism, whenever established, never works.
Case in point, look today at the nation of Venezuela. Once the richest nations in South America chose the route of socialism in the late 1990s. Union leader and labor organizer Cesar Chavez took over the government on the promise to the people of hope and change, a Socialist paradise. He promised that the government would take care of all the people’s needs. Instead, the government took over industry after industry. Chavez said that the government would run these businesses better than private enterprise, and the government would share the profits with the people. Instead, he made businesses leave the nation. He took from the rich and gave to the poor. Socialism always seems to work in the beginning, but it does not last.
At some point, once businesses leave, there is no more money. The wealth creators go elsewhere.
Today, under President Nicolas Maduro:
- People are standing in line just to get food. There is no electrical power.
- Some walk away empty-handed.
- Over 5 million people have left Venezuela to go to other countries.
- Kids do not go to school because there are no teachers.
- Minimum wage has decreased to just $7 per month.
- Journalist was arrested for speaking out against Maduro.
- People wait in line to get toilet paper.
- Crime has increased. There is violent lawlessness in the streets.
Black America, we will experience the same outcome if we do not wake up. Please view the links below to learn how socialism has destroyed Venezuela.
